Pe Ell 4th of July Festival 5K Guidelines

  

Race Guidelines

Thank you for participating in the Pe Ell 4th of July Festival 5K! Our goal is to provide a safe, fun, and welcoming event for runners, walkers, families, and community members of all experience levels.


Event Information

  • Race Date: Saturday, July 4, 2027
  • Race Start Time: 8:00 AM
  • Check-In Opens: 7:00 AM
  • Start/Finish Location: New Harvest Church, 134 Mauerman Rd.  Chehalis, WA 98532
  • Course Type: Out-and-Back Route utilizing local roads and the Willapa Hills Trail


Participant Expectations

All participants are expected to:

  • Follow directions from race officials, volunteers, firefighters, EMTs, and law enforcement personnel.
  • Display their race bib number visibly at all times during the event.
  • Conduct themselves in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner.
  • Observe all posted course markings and directional signs.


Course Safety

For the safety of all participants:

  • Stay to the right side of the course at all times unless safely passing another participant.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and other participants.
  • Yield appropriately when directed by event staff.
  • Use caution when approaching intersections, checkpoints, and turnaround areas.
  • Headphones are permitted but participants should maintain awareness of announcements, traffic, and emergency instructions.


Medical & Emergency Support

Lewis County Fire District #11 will provide medical and safety support throughout the event.

Support includes:

  • Ambulance and EMT personnel at the Start/Finish area
  • Firefighter and volunteer staffing at key checkpoints
  • Medical and hydration support at the turnaround station
  • Emergency response capability along the course

If you require assistance during the event, notify the nearest volunteer, firefighter, EMT, or event official immediately.


Walkers & Families

This event welcomes:

  • Competitive runners
  • Recreational runners
  • Walkers
  • Families
  • Youth participants

Participants are encouraged to move at their own pace and enjoy the event. Courtesy toward all participants is expected.


Youth Participants

Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or designated adult family member.

Parents and guardians are responsible for supervision and participant safety throughout the event.


Awards

Awards are planned for:

  • Top 3 Overall Male Finishers
  • Top 3 Overall Female Finishers
  • Top 3 Youth Finishers (based on participation)

Awards will be presented near the Start/Finish area following completion of the race.


Weather Policy

The event will be held rain or shine whenever conditions allow safe operation.

In the event of severe weather, unsafe course conditions, or emergency circumstances, race officials reserve the right to delay, modify, suspend, or cancel the event.


Respect Our Community

The Pe Ell 4th of July Festival 5K is intended to become a lasting hometown tradition. Participants are asked to:

  • Dispose of trash properly
  • Respect private property
  • Treat volunteers and fellow participants with kindness
  • Help us create a positive experience for everyone
